Santosha – Written by Sophie Nusselder-
Unexelled happiness comes from the practise of contentment*
Santosha means ‘contentment’. It is a profound state of being that is worth pursuing. Cultivating contentment is a yoga practice. If you feel down or experience life as meaningless and sad, you can change that experience. I think the most powerful way to experience satisfaction is be grateful for everything you have. Being grateful for your health, your family and friends and the time and opportunity to do….. yoga!
Santosha, or true, full satisfaction, is an inner state that is not dependent on external circumstances. It is a state of mind that you can cultivate and develop. That is true yoga: to create conditions for a happy inner world through training of body, mind and energy. Yoga gives us the tools to overcome suffering. Practicing contentment frees us from the unnecessary suffering of always wanting things to be different, and instead fills us with gratitude and joy for all of life’s blessings.
