Vipassana: a technique to reset the mind

For me yoga works therapeutically. I’m quite an extravert person and love to share time with people. Asana (yoga posture) practise is for me the motor to focus on myself and fill my body with love and new energy.

In 2014 I wanted to refresh and energize myself with a new experience. I decided to do a ten day Vipassana course. Wow! This course was the best I could choose to do at that moment. Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body. Mr Goenka, explains the process of a ten days meditation as a brain surgery you perform on yourself. This strong image made me so curious that I wanted to experience Vipassana myself.

By observing the natural breath I remarked the frequency of my thoughts got less and less and I even experienced complete quietness on some moments. As I was continuing doing this during ten days I actually felt my brain came in state of reset. Doing this I experienced I am not my thoughts. I am able to change negative thoughts and transform them into positive. Result: meditation makes me more aware and able to remove that what blocks me experiencing my true nature – my deeper self. I experienced this self is full of light, warmth and love.

Now I know everybody’s – self – is full of light, warmth and love and although I do not always experience this light when I’m in contact with the other, I know it is present. This makes me have more understanding for the other when I feel bothered, irritated or simply don’t understand the others behaviour.
