Parimukti’s 500 hours Advanced Yoga Teacher Training is a 52 day intensive course registered through Yoga Alliance USA. Our training will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach Yoga to beginners, intermediate, as well as advanced students with confidence. The program is a combination of the 200 hour and 300 hour trainings. Once you complete the introductory 200 hour course you advance to the 300 hour course, and upon successful completion of both programs you will be eligible to register as a 500 hour RYT through Yoga Alliance USA. A Yoga Alliance 500 hour certification is one of the most highest and widely recognized teaching certifications in the field of yoga and will enable you to teach Yoga all throughout the world.

Our advanced multi-style course focuses on three different styles: Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga. We will also take a look at other styles such as Yin, Restorative, and Yoga Nidra. You will deepen your understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the body and learn how to apply it practically in a Yoga Class. Advanced asanas, breath awareness, pranayamas, kriyas, mantras, meditation, yogic philosophy, anatomy, and alignment will be presented, deepened, and practiced within the course as well.

Curriculum

THE ART OF ENERGETIC BALANCING

In this training we encourage you to explore different ways of finding the center in your body through energetic awareness and alignment. From the system of yoga the result should always be that we create length and space in the body. When you find the center in the body, your mind will follow along. To achieve this we use muscle energy and core stability to protect the joints. Also, we will continue exploring several models of experiencing the physical body such as the seven chakras, the five elements, the three gunas, and the five layers, or koshas.

ASANA

Your practice is your foundation, your real teacher. In the training, you will commit to practicing daily asana, pranayama, and meditation. What you practice, you will understand. What you understand, you will be able to teach. Therefore you’ll be encouraged to, as a group, teach a self designed sequence in the morning/afternoon sessions, which gives you a deeper insight into your understanding and how that translates into teaching.

ART OF TEACHING

Teaching is a great medium to learn about yourself and others. Therefore, you will be asked to work with the other students, in groups, on teaching assignments from the very beginning. Our teachers will give you practical tools and constructive feedback that will help you grow rapidly and confidently. The Art of Teaching classes are a great platform where you can integrate what you have learned in the alignment, anatomy and philosophy classes. Above all you will be invited and challenged to find your unique way of teaching a class.

ANATOMY

In this module you learn about the functional anatomy and physiology of the nervous system, the muscular system, and connective tissue to understand the effect of asana practice.

PHILOSOPHY

You will be challenged to find your own understanding of the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, by studying them in depth. We gain a deeper insight of the text and ourselves by sharing personal findings, discoveries and relate the philosophy to our lives.

PRANAYAMA

You will continue/start a personal practice of pranayama to incorporate into your daily practice. At the end of the program you will have integrated these practices and, thus, will be able to incorporate different types of pranayamas into your teaching.

THE ART OF SEQUENCING AND ADJUSTING

In this module you’ll learn how to do hands-on adjustments using props like blocks, belts, and cushions. Central to our teaching is to look at the students and understand their bodies. We will practice and gain confidence with offering effective hands-on adjustments to help your students deepen their practice and embody the fullest expression of their yoga poses. We will also encourage and assist you with designing creative sequences that compliment your personal teaching style.

MEDITATION

We will continue experiencing different meditation techniques like silent sitting, movement meditations, heart meditations and Buddhist meditations. You will deepen your understanding of what meditation is, and understand how that translates into your daily life. Meditation from the point of yoga philosophy as well as chakra meditation to approach different energy channels (Nadis).

MANTRA

You will be introduced to chanting mantras in a more classical setting (start/end of the class) as well as a more joyous setting in a kirtan evening. You will be chanting some of the most important mantras and understand by experience how sound can positively charge oneself and the environment.
